Race for the Championship - Title

I worked alongside King and Country to develop concepts for a pitch to introduce the USA network show about Nascar.

Concept 01 comes from an inspiration of that hazy warm-toned, backlit environment that we often see at some of these races when the sun is setting. I wondered if there was a way to show this while tying it to the logo itself. I then thought we could use the three colors of the logos and create vignettes of what happens in race dates, while creating a dreamlike hazy environment. We ultimately discover that all of these vignettes were happening within the colored stripes of the Nascar logo itself.

Concept 02 was focused on elevating the sport that has traditionally been thought of as a ‘joke’ to many, while keeping the high energy and grittiness that inevitably does exist within the sport. I wanted to create a cinematic environment, almost like a high-end car commercial, or photoshoot. Through a series of match cuts emphasizing the circular repetition that is present through the tires, the steering wheel, the track itself, etc, we progressively build up not only the speed and visuals but also the loud roaring noise of the engines taking us to the logo resolve.
